The Addition of Sugar
The isotope analysis can detect undeclared and/or prohibited addition of sugar into products, concerning the detection of sugar from C4-plants, such as cane sugar.
This method of tracing the sugar is used successfully for inspection of the declaration, particularly on fruit juices. For this analysis, a sample of the product must be sent to the laboratory. No further reference samples are necessary.
The Addition of Water
The prohibited and/or undeclared addition of water in a product can be proved simply with aid of the isotope analysis. This analysis is used at present mainly for fruit juices and wine products. Whether a sample is required depends on the product.
The Addition of Technical Carbon Dioxide
The prohibited and/or undeclared addition of carbon dioxide plays a vital role in the production of sparkling wine. Quality products can be distinguished by inferior qualities. No additional reference samples are required.
